Educational Objectives

I am presently working on a bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.  Upon graduation, I intend to find employment while pursuing graduate studies in International Economics and an MBA at the University of Akron.
Following the completion of these studies, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in Economic Development studies.

Career Objectives

Studying and identifying the forces which drive the economy, and subsequently change policy, motivates me to study economics.  I am interested in how various elements of economics effect commerce and the quality of life.  I hope to use my knowledge of economics to work at drafting economic legislation or evaluating the efficiency of programs, for instance.

Issues concerning the openness of trade and shifts in trading patterns, especially in regards to developing countries, motivate me to focus on the business side of economics also.  I am interested in how the business environment affects public policy.  Pursuing an MBA in addition to Economics would give me an opportunity to study and explore this dynamic.

A Ph.D. in Economic Development would give me the opportunity to further specialize my studies in the public sector as well as an opportunity to teach.  Once I acquire knowledge, and become somewhat proficient in it, I enjoy sharing and collaborating with others who are as enthusiastic about it as I am.
