Who am I?
My name is
Dusten Miller. I’m currently a part time student at the University of
Akron and a full time employee at FirstEnergy. I am focusing on an MBA
and minor in Economics. Due to working full time at FirstEnergy, I am
not able to participate in as many campus activities as much as I would
like to. Most of my focus is contributed to donations and volunteering
for United Way through FirstEnergy.
What are my educational and career paths?
graduating high school, I was unsure of my educational objective and
career objective. I arrived at the University taking general courses as
advised, but had no idea the direction I was headed. I wanted to
explore what each major offered for career paths, financial stability,
and happiness. I did not want to make the mistake of regretting my
“young decision making” or “having constant career change”. At this
point I decided it was time to take a break to determine a decision
that affected the rest of my life. When I made the decision not to be
in school, another decision was made at that exact moment. My parents
forced me to find a job. A few months
later I was working for FirstEnergy in Customer Services and Treasury.
After a year things were beginning to fall in place. I was offered
continuous education in form of tuition reimbursement for; good grades
and studying the FirstEnergy field of scope. I was getting free
education, direction of career paths, and an idea of salaries and job
descriptions. With everything falling in place I decided to major in
Business Administration and minor in Economics. What are my educational and career objectives?
What are my career objectives?
objectives are to graduate with an MBA and minor in Economics from the
University of Akron. Furthermore, work my way up the FirstEnergy
corporate ladder, continue my education, and eventually open my own
work out facility. Unlike many students, my career and education are on
the same path and have inspired each other in creating my dreams.
