Brandon Genetin's Portfolio

Department of Economics, The University of Akron

About Me:
I am currently an undergraduate student seeking a double degree in Economics and Applied Mathematics. I am actively involved on campus with Undergraduate Student Government, National Residence Hall Honorary, and a Learning Assistant for two Principles of Macroeconomic classes. Outside of school, I coach Speech & Debate at my former high school, fostering creativity, ingenuity, and ethical thinking through the teaching of fundamental communication and debate skills. I plan to graduate in the Spring of 2017.

I live firmly by the belief that a man's strength is in his character and as such, I have a strong passion to give back to the community that once gave to me. I am actively involved in service organizations and volunteer opportunities, striving to positively impact other's lives. I take pride in my public speaking and interpersonal communication abilities and I enjoy making new professional acquaintances. Please reach out if you would like to talk finance, economics, or community service.

My Educational Objectives:
I plan to graduate in the Spring of 2017 with a Bachelor's in Economics and Applied Mathematics. After graduation I would like to attend graduate school to receive a  a dual Master's in Economics and Public Policy, or possibly a PhD in Economics. Throughout my undergraduate, I will further my learning by obtaining summer internships along the way. Currently, I have interned for a Financial Advisory firm as well as two summers with The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.

My Career Objectives:
After graduation, I would like to work with community and economic development. Learning and understanding why communities, areas, and countries do not grow at the same pace as others has always been an interest to me. Thus, I would like to utilize my passion and help the community around me by analyzing and finding effective ways for area growth.
